I met the founders of Our First Year at the Baby Expo a few weeks ago and thought their idea and product was great and I know you will too!
The Our First Year team has hand-selected 8 developmentally-appropriate toys for babies from birth to one year old and activity cards for each toy. These activity cards contain tried and true methods for meaningful playtime with your baby and they will inform you of why each toy was chosen and which areas of development it is targeting. Speech/language and fine/gross motor skills that are attained during infancy are the building blocks of important skills that are needed for our little ones to enter pre-school and kindergarten.

Our First Year is comprised of three practicing pediatric therapists (from left to right)...Heather, a Speech-Language Pathologist who holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence, Donna, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Hollie, a Doctor of Occupational Therapy.
"Over the years, we began to notice an increase in the number of young children with difficulties in fine and gross motor skills, as well as language delays. We were also noticing that the age at which children are exposed to screen time was becoming younger and younger. With our extensive experience in working with children from birth to age three, we understand that these are the critical years for developing motor, language, and social skills. We hope that the toys and activity cards (we have taken our 60 years of combined experience and designed activity cards for each toy) included in the Our First Year backpack will give you a head start on enhancing your baby's development."
