Wednesday Wellness Tip

Often times people think of "health" as only defined by the foods that you eat or how much time spent in the gym. While that is definitely a component of overall health and wellness, I have found through my experience, it is actually much more than that. AdvoCare has taught me that your health health includes 5 different pillars: nutrition, physical , sleep, stress, supplementation.

When you focus on just 1 of these categories the way I did, you might not see the progress you are hoping for. Your health is really a balancing act. It is learning to find a balance of all of those 5 pillars and when you find that balance, you start to see results. My goal is to help you understand simple ways you can do this to fit into YOUR life! For the next few weeks, I will focusing on a tip for each of these pillars that can make your journey to a healthier life a little bit easier.

The first pillar of health is nutrition. This is SO key to getting the results you want because as they say, "You can't outrun your kitchen." It doesn't take calorie counting or counting points or any kind of special "secret" to eating healthy to get fit. It's literally eating the way our babies do - small meals every 2-3 hours. For me, that is 3 meals with 3 snacks in between. And honestly, the timing of eating every 2-3 hours is just as important as the foods that you are eating.

ITS THAT SIMPLE! Sure, this can be hard to do if you aren't sure of where to start with healthy eating or feel like this means eating boring or repetitive foods. I'm no expert in the field of nutrition, but I came across some REALLY great tools & convenient options that will help you on your journey to having healthy foods in your home!

WOW I wish I would have known about this sooner!! From kid-friendly recipes to family recipes on a budget, our own government provides us with TOTALLY FREE tools to help our families eat healthy! There are SO many cool resources on this website, if you have some time definitely check it all out. Photo credit: choosemyplate.gov

This is my GO TO. I found AdvoCare 4 years ago and it transformed the way I see food and made it so simple for me to understand how to properly fuel my body without overthinking it. I am SUCH a snacker, so having this snack list comes in handy - plus is a great tool to have on the fridge when preparing or packing your kid's lunches! These resources, as well as the Transformation Journal, are TOTALLY FREE and awesome tools to understanding basic nutrition and how to apply it to your every day! You can download the journal here.

If you're not big into cooking and don't even know where to begin - this might be worth looking into for your family! They send healthy dinners to you on a weekly basis including ALL the ingredients + recipe you need that can be made in under 30 minutes. All thats left to do is cook it! SUCH a time saver, plus it's a great way to add some variety to your kitchen while staying in budget too! We used Hello Fresh pretty regularly when we first got married and it was definitely a fun date night in!

If you have one of these awesome stores in your neighborhood, you should definitely stop in and check it out! These little shops have healthy meals prepped and ready to go! From lunches and dinners to snacks, literally you can find all that you need to help you be successful if time to shop and cook is your issue! I find it to be a little on the pricey side, but again, if you're looking to eat healthy and can't seem to make the time, this is a much better option than stopping through a drive-thru. I talked about this a little in my post last week, but for me, convenience is everything. I hate hauling my daughter to the grocery store every week, so this makes it SUPER easy for me to be able to order what I want and have it delievered straight to my door. I still have to use a grocery list and know what I am shopping for for the week, but it is a huge time saver for me and allows me more time to prepare meals and snacks ahead of time once the food is delivered. PLUS you tend not to spend as much money when you order online, so definitely recommend trying this out for all my mom's on a budget!

I hope that with these tools, you feel a little more confident in providing healthy meals for your family.

See you back here next Wednesday!

With the help of AdvoCare and the nutritional products they provide, I have reached my own health goals and now help others to do the same. I am also a nurse at a children's hospital here in Atlanta, and nursing is where I discovered my passion of helping others, which has now grown into a focus on leading a healthy lifestyle. Through what I have learned from helping my own family and many others achieve their own health goals, I am excited to bring some tips to you to help make living a healthy life a little easier for you.
